Twilight Rose

As a child the moon was a girl so bright
Sneak out and dance—back at first light
Swirl of white silk on velvet green lawns
Out with the twilight, in with the dawn.

A journey of memory, a journey of soul
A search for the magic awake in my soul
Bright heart fires dim, the cherished are cold,
How now can I strive to make myself whole?

The moon was the light that guided my way
Though far did I roam, my bright sister stayed
Dancing the clouds, romancing the sea
I fled from the cage, I sought to be free.

Blue skies, clear waters, and temples of old
The wonders of magic I sought to behold
The breath of the ocean, the tears of the breeze
A glint of green-silver, the sighs of the trees.

A journey completed, I sought not to roam
But to take what I’d learned and carry it home
The love I would seek, the magic I’d find
Was most precious in footsteps I’d left behind.
