Dilemma # 1To Train or Not to Train? You are approached by someone who wants to be a high priest or high priestess. You have known this person for some time. You KNOW (without a doubt) that they just don't have the makings to be an effective leader. (There is something fundamentally missing in their personality -- not good at people skills, etc.) Although you realize that training will always help, it will never be enough. They feel that they are called by the God and Goddess to do this. Do you: 1) Train them anyway and hope that someday they will realize that this is not their path? 2) Explain to them that this is not their strength and try to get them to focus on something else more suited to their natural talents and abilities? 3) Come up with some other option?
Your ViewsUmbralVoid - September 24, 2000 I personally believe that being a leader is a skill that is learned. Some people are born better at it than others but it doesn't mean that soeone couldn't improve with practice. If someone with poor leadership skills was always kept away from being a leader then they will never acquire good leadership skills. Why keep that from them? Maybe they wouldn't be the Leader but maybe an assistant to get a feel for leadership and get better at it.
Neil - September 24, 2000 (Neil is a 14 year old male, Wiccan.) id teach him/her how to be a high priest/ess but id ask the coven if i should first Lord Kale of the Dragon Clan - August 7 we have faced these problems in our past and we have found that with problem 1. if one asks to be trained to be high priest or priestess and the teacher feels they are not ready, then that teacher has the oblication to tell the student why and with honesty lies or deception only darkens us.
