Songs and Lyrics

Right now there is one short song (with midi) and the lyrics to two more. At some point the music may be turned into midi files and posted here, but probably not anytime soon! It takes too darn long!

  • Harp Blessing -

  • Lady of the River

  • Moon on High

  • Harp Blessing

I wrote this song as part of the harp blessing I performed at a personal full moon ritual. Of course, I play it quite frequently to renew the blessing! If you let the song play all the way through, on the second repeat, harmony is added.

    Lyrics
    Harp, harp, shining bright
may the Goddess bless you tonight.
Let all hands upon you play,
    gently sweetly night and day.

    Let the melody spring forth,
light as a feather and fly to the sky.
Like the earth giving birth -
sing a song and not even try...

    Harp, harp, shining bright
may the Goddess bless you tonight.
Let all hands upon you play,
    gently sweetly night and day.

    Moon on High

The three verses to this song have been pulled out and used as a triple Goddes invocation.

Maiden, Queen of the Springtime Green
    with flowers blooming so fair.
    With youthful zest,
the birds building nests of garlands in Her hair.

The moon on high is full and bright
and the kindling has started to burn.
With joy and with laughter we all celebrate
the wheel of the year as it turns,
the wheel of the year as it turns.

Mother, Who is the Sea and the Earth
and nourishes all that is born.
    Our heads they do rest
    upon Her sweet breasts
which give us the wheat and the corn.

The moon on high is full and bright
and bonfires reach to the sky.
We all join hands and circle around
and ask for Her to draw nigh,
and ask for Her to draw nigh.

Crone, the Wisest of Them All,
    Her face, so barren, forlorn.
    Her secretive mark,
    a moon that is dark,
    through death She is Reborn!

The moon on high is full and bright
and the bonfires all have burned low.
The circle is open, we all have gone home,
but that we love Her, She knows,
and that we love Her, She knows.

    The Lady of the River

The Hocking River, in its changing beauty, flows through Athens County. Everyday on my way to work, I am amazed at the seasonal variety of wonder that She displays.

    The river of the winter
is so lonely and so cold.
    The river of the springtime
    bounteous waters too overfull.
    The river of the summer
is so shallow and so bright.
    The river of the autumn
sends Her breath into the frosty night.

    Chorus
And the Lady of the River
gives Her lifeblood to one and all.
As the wheel of the seasons turn,
oh my Lady, I hear your call.

From the rivers to the ocean,
    Aphrodite, She comes to me.
As the tides of life keep flowing
to and from Her, and Her stormy sea.
As the tides of celestial turning,
against a backdrop of starry sky.
And the Sun who warms us gently,
it is His passing, which makes our Mother cry.

    Chorus
And the Lady of the River
gives Her lifeblood to one and all.
As the wheel of the seasons turn,
oh my Lady, I hear your call.

As the stream of moonlight upon me
reflects the stream of thought within.
And the stream of all humanity
    wandering blindly 'round future's bend.
It's the nature of time's passage
that reminds us, She cannot be lost.
As the snowflakes turn to showers,
and the thunderstorms turn into frost.

    Chorus
And the Lady of the River
gives Her lifeblood to one and all.
As the wheel of the seasons turn,
oh my Lady, I hear your call.
